Hollywood actor Steven Seagal  has been appointed as a “special representative” on US-Russian humanitarian ties.

In a statement on its official Facebook page Saturday, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said  Steven Seagal’s  duty will be to promote US-Russia relations “in the humanitarian sphere,” and to   collaborate “in the sphere of culture, public and youth exchanges.”

The foreign ministry likened his role to that of the United Nations’ goodwill ambassador positions as this is an unpaid role.

Steven Seagal became a Russian citizen in 2016  and has been an avid supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, he was also present at  Putin’s swearing-in ceremony.
