The Rivers State Club who recently played Enyimba and Rivers United in a pre-season friendly travelled east to play Rangers football Club and Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club of Nnewi.
A keenly contested affair between Rangers Int’l and SKE took centre stage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium as the Flying Antelopes won by two goals to nil.
The visitors dominated proceedings in the opening half as they missed some glaring opportunities. The likes of Solomon Thompson and Eli were cupable for the misses.
Rangers were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute which they converted to lead at the break. The second half witnessed lots of eventful activities.
SKE upped their game in the second half but they dogged defending of the Rangers backline couldn’t pave way for the equaliser.
Against the run of play, Rangers doubled their lead in the 85th minute to coast home victorious in the friendly encounter.
Another defeat for visiting SKE ensued in Nnewi as host, FC Ifeanyi Ubah hit three past their opponents in a friendly encounter.
The first half proceedings was characterised by resolute defending by both side – despite being creative in the opening stages, they visitors failed to make it count.
The Anambra Warriors went in front in the 65th minute following some wonderful interchange of passes from the build-up.
Despite searching for the equaliser, the host added the second in the 70th via a solo effort by Wasiu. Moments later, the Anambra Warriors scored the third. The consolation goal came at the death via a penalty by Solomon Thompson which led to the blast of the full time.
